Its annual scientific conference brings together scientists, clinicians, engineers and policy makers working in the field. Since the conference is designed to stimulate the informal exchange of ideas and information, attendance is limited to approximately 135 participants and the meeting site is selected to be comfortable but somewhat secluded.
